In springtime, glimpse the first wildflowers on a picnic and family hike at Crabtree Meadows. Little Switzerland is the perfect escape from the summer heat. Trade in sweltering humidity for cool mountain breezes and the mist of a mountain waterfall on a visit to Linville Falls and Linville Gorge NC Wilderness area. And nothing compares to the brilliant fall colors and scents of the Blue Rige Parkway - the mountain valleys will be ablaze in every shade of orange, red and yellow.

For the more adventurous, hike to the top of Mt. Mitchell, the highest peak in the east, or go rock climbing in the Linville Gorge Wilderness area or challenge the Diamondback and put your motorcycle or sportscar to the test (Route 226A - the Diamondback).

Grandfather Mountain, Biltmore House, Tweetsie Railroad and championship mountain golf are all within an easy drive via the Blue Ridge Parkway. With so much to see and do on your North Carolina Mountain Vacation, you'll want to return to Little Switzerland again and again.
